Monday 18th March 2019 by @WeNurses

Blog post written by Susan Shears (Experience of Care Programme Coordinator NHS England)

We invite you and your teams to join us as we celebrate the work that’s happening across health and social care to keep improving experiences of care of patients, families, carers and staff.

Experience of Care Week 2019 runs from Monday 22 April until Friday 26 April.

This is an international campaign supported by both NHS England and NHS Improvement and offers us the chance to celebrate the work that’s happening to improve experiences of care.  This will be our third year of involvement, we will be building on the success of the last two years as well as reaching out further to our external partners.

Once again, we have some wonderful downloadable colourful and engaging graphics to help promote and bring events to life, you can access them HERE.  We’ll be hosting online activities including twitter chats, webinars and blogs (CLICK HERE to submit a blog) to share the improvement work that’s happening nationally and globally.  We are encouraging organisations to hold their own staff events and more information about this will follow in the coming weeks.

Importantly, though, we’d like to invite you and your teams in Trusts, CCGs and care providers to engage and share your work using various means such as digital technology and local face to face events during the week, to inspire and encourage others with examples of small and big things that are improving experiences for the people using and working in our services.  We want to hear all about the amazing work being done in all areas of the health sector.

The ‘We Communities’ website will once again be playing host and will provide a rich source of information throughout the week with regular updates.  Promotional material is also available to download.

Aims of the week:

  • Continue to raise the profile of improving patient experience, staff experience, carers experiences and experience of care for all.
  • Promote an inclusive and collaborative approach to improving experiences of care.
  • Support improvement in experiences of care in provider and commissioning organisations.
  • Provide support for patient experience and staff experience leads to highlight and influence improvements in experiences of care with a range of stakeholders.
  • Generate interest in experiences of care at a national level using social media and other communication approaches.
  • Recognise staff for their tremendous contributions to improving experiences of care and build on this energy for ongoing improvements.
  • Experience of care…..we care, provide our own staff with enriching and thought provoking events throughout the week.

Social media is a key tool for bring Experience of Care Week to life, and we’ll be using the hashtag #ExpofCare to capture tweets or key messages about what people are doing.

Please do tweet using the #ExpofCare hashtag and let’s keep spreading the good stuff!
