Welcome @WeDocs to the family

Tuesday 4th November 2014 by @WeDocs

Please welcome @WeDocs to the We family of tweeting healthcare professionals!

Since the @WeNurses began in 2012, yes it really was that long ago now, the family of tweeting communities has grown organically across focused healthcare roles. We communities come together to support each other, share ideas and best practices through not only regular tweet chats but connecting with peers on twitter then taking these connections face to face in the “real world”, something twitter is great at!

Following a tweet from @JulzRasmussen only a few weeks ago, Julie raised the question “Where are all the tweeting docs?”. You can read her blog about it here. It would appear that doctors are out there; something we kind of knew already as many join the WeChats and offer a great perspective. What we didn’t know is that structuring the way that doctors tweet and connect would appeal to them and we are delighted that this has created @WeDocs.

As is We tradition, @WeDocs will be holding regular tweet chats, where all will be very welcome. Chats will take place on a Wednesday evening at 8pm, starting on the 19th of November followed by a pre-Christmas chat on the 17th. The plan is to host a chat on the third Wednesday of every month.

As ever, those driving the @WeDocs account will be a range of volunteers from across the profession and geography. You can find out about the team on the “about “We’’page. Experience ranges from med students to surgeons across primary and secondary care. @WeDocs is looking to focus discussions as wide as possible to allow as many doctors to participate. Currently we could do with better representation from the primary care sector, so if you are a GP and would like to join the team do tweet @WeDocs and let them know.

We hope you’ll support the latest addition to the We community and find interacting with them valuable.

Find out a little more about the @WeDocs team here: @sammajumdar @CRoseveare @Jneildwy @GrangerKate @silv24 @Trisha_the_doc @PhilippaCRees @JulzRasmussen and tune in for the first #WeDocs discussion on November the 19th “Error reporting and the GMC's commitment to duty of candour”, prechat information coming here soon!

Hi Karen, team #WeDocs are UK based so the times are GMT, however given the global knowledge and sharing potential via the community we'd envisage running chats to keep a few time zones engaged once we are up and running, we'll also update the chat information to reflect the timezones ASAP. Thanks for your comment.
