As International Nurses Day fast approaches our thoughts turn to the wonderful work of nurses all over the world – however we know that no matter what day it is, whether its International Nurses Day, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday or even just plain old Monday nurses are always working hard to provide compassionate care. So for the week around International Nurses Day this year We want to chart what nurses are doing, what it is like to be a nurse every day and celebrate the everyday things that nurses do.
For 24 hours from midnight on 12th May Tweet a picture of yourself, and maybe even a friendly colleague, and include #MyNursingDay and the 6C (Care, Compassion, Courage, Commitment, Competence, Communication) that you most identify with on that day in your Tweet.
Here’s an example:
"Needing lots of courage today as its my first day in my new role #MyNursingDay" plus your picture
You can send as many Tweets and pictures as you like throughout the week however its really important to remember that you must be careful when tweeting pictures to observe patient confidentiality – Please refer to the NMC Guidance on using social media responsibly if you need any clarification on this.
A little International Nurses Day magic will then happen and your Tweet will whiz through the virtual Twitter ether and appear on the #MyNursingDay montage wall below
Huge thanks goes to the lovely people at 6Cs Live! For helping to make this happen – we hope that #MyNursingDay will be a living, breathing record of nursing and what we do 24 hours a day, every day.
Of course it wouldn't be International Nurse Day without a #WeNurses Twitter discussion – so at 8pm on Tuesday 12th May we will be holding a Twitter chat around how the nursing day has changed and what we enjoy most and what we would most like to change about our nursing days.
Full #WeNurses chat details on the 12th can be found here.
We are really looking forward to reading all of your #MyNursingDay tweets and seeing all of your pictures – Have a very Happy International Nurses Day !
