#WeDNs - Wednesday 26th April 2017 8pm (GMT Standard Time) Sharing Experiences of Community Practice Learning

If you haven't joined in a tweet chat before it's very simple.    Here's a guide

 Chat Details

Hosted by WeCommNurses using #WeDNs

This is a chat for both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the community to discuss how to get the best from your practice placement. Learning in practice is an essential component  of all Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) approved programmes (NMC 2010, NMC2006, NMC 2004, NMC 2001); and all students will be supervised by either a mentor, sign-off mentor or practice teacher (NMC 2008); or if undertaking the V300 prescribing, a Designated Medical Practitioner (NMC 2006). Every placement and geographical area will be different. We are hoping student nurses, district nurse and health visitor students, and any other interested students will join this chat and provide their perspective and share experiences.

The chat will explore the following:

  • In pre-registration nursing, how much time is spent in community settings in your area?

  • Who are the members of the team you are placed with?

  • How do you prepare for your placement?

  • What support is valuable while you are on placement?

  • How do service users inform your learning?

  • What activities best support your learning?

  • Are you allowed the opportunity to undertake visits on your own as a pre-registration student?

  • How does your practice documentation support your learning?

  • Do you undertake a community profile as part of your placement?

  • Any other tips to share with others
