#WeNurses - Thursday 19th October 2017 8pm (GMT Standard Time) Nurse Prescribing

If you haven't joined in a tweet chat before it's very simple.    Here's a guide

 Chat Details

Hosted by WeNurses using #WeNurses

This chat is guest hosted by @EllzSummary @sharp_pam

Nurses are increasingly being expected to take on more responsibility as they respond to the changing needs and expectations of patients and the public. Prescribing practice is expected to become a key requirement of future care delivery.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) proposes that in future all NMC approved prescribing programmes deliver outcomes which meet the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s (RPS) Competency Framework for all prescribers.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council also proposes widening the supervision and assessment of trainee prescribers to all suitably qualified and experienced prescribers. Supervision is currently only undertaken by a designated medical practitioner (DMP). This is in line with the General Pharmaceutical Council's plans to widen the supervision of trainee prescribers to pharmacist prescribers and other nonmedical prescribers.

Within this in mind, the tweet chat will look at how changing prescribing practice may affect current and future nurses and seek to discuss any issues that may arise.
