If you haven't joined in a tweet chat before it's very simple.    Here's a guide

 Chat Details

Hosted by WePharmacists using #WePH

This chat is guest hosted by @chriscuttspharm

Community pharmacy is changing in response to patient needs and expectations, NHS service redesign and wider workforce changes. In this changing healthcare environment there is a vision for community pharmacy to become more integrated into the wider healthcare team with a key role in medicines optimisation and urgent care.

NHS England and Health Education England are working with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and other partners to develop new training and qualifications to build the pharmacy workforce of the future, through the Pharmacy Integration Fund.

For the first time, the flagship NHS Mary Seacole Leadership Programme is being offered through the Fund to community pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, to develop your clinical and leadership skills.

Led by the NHS Leadership Academy and the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE), this programme is designed to develop your leadership skills, to enable you to drive high quality, patient-focused services in community pharmacy and really make a difference to the health of the people you see.

We want as many community pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to take advantage of this excellent NHS-funded training, but more importantly, we would like to hear your views on leadership in community pharmacy. Is it the manager's role, or is leadership done by everyone working in the pharmacy? What are the qualities of a leader and how can training help you develop leadership skills? What is clinical leadership by pharmacists and pharmacy technicians?

Join us for an open, constructive discussion and the chance to influence future workforce training.

@SiButterworth @WePharmacists I agree with points 2 & 3. Perceived benefit is a big barrier. Time spent doing this is time away from one of a hundred other things. #WePh

@DL_Stacey_ @WePharmacists Been working really hard to do that. I believe it needs a groundswell of knowledge and insight, and a social marketing movement within profession(s) to build demand and help people recognise benefit. #weph

@DelphineHEE1 @WePharmacists @wasimbaqir Its an innovative solution and would be worth exploration and an "experiment/pilot" in my view. I think there would be benefits for both parties in terms of understanding and sharing of practical approaches #wePh

Oh wow! Where do we start? As well as Mary Seacole Leadership Programme (https://www.cppe.ac.uk/services/leadership-community#navTop), we provide leadership opportunities for hospital pharmacy profs, care home pharmacy profs and general practice pharmacists. We really are a diverse and dynamic profession. #weph https://twitter.com/WePharmacists/status/1007350056398319616

Final thought @WePharmacists: “It's easy to become focused on our day-to-day jobs & work in our little silo. The programme allowed me to have a better understanding of the NHS & realise how much more of a role I can play within the NHS & make a real difference to patients.” #weph

@WePharmacists #wePh Why limit it to pharmacy sectors? There are other industries that have to deal with similar challenges to budgets, limitations to service opportunities, developing new markets and parameters to ensure safety, just like pharmacy.
