This chat is guest hosted by @EmilyBeardall1 @JohnathanLaird
Bullying has been a hot topic lately in the Twitter pharmacy world and there have been several reports in the news of bullying in the NHS affecting patient safety. @JohnathanLaird, who will be co-hosting this chat, ran a series on bullying in Pharmacy in Practice and his inbox was flooded with accounts of bullying in different pharmacy sectors at all levels. The response has been so huge that Johnathan will be presenting a poster on the subject at the joint Community Pharmacy Scotland/Strathclyde University research event later in the year.
Here are the questions we'll be discussing in turn during the chat:
- What counts as bullying in a pharmacy workplace?
- Have you experienced bullying at any stage in your pharmacy career? (We understand that it might feel unsafe to tweet about the finer details if you have been on the receiving end of bullying yourself, so this will be a poll question with optional discussion)
- Does the incidence of bullying vary across sectors?
- What support is available for pharmacy staff who are being bullied and what ways could you support a colleague?
- Do you have any tips or resources for team managers on how to stop bullying and create a healthy workplace?
- What could the profession as a whole do to address bullying in the pharmacy workplace?
If you're being bullied and need support we suggest you to get in touch with Pharmacist Support, who offer a totally confidential Listening Friends service: https://pharmacistsupport.org/how-we-can-help/listening-friends/
