#WeNurses - Thursday 17th January 2019 8pm (GMT Standard Time) Prioritising people

If you haven't joined in a tweet chat before it's very simple.    Here's a guide

 Chat Details

Hosted by WeNurses using #WeNurses

One of the core parts of the NMC Code is "Prioritising people"

But what does this mean in reality in our day to day lives as nurses? How do we prioritise people?

This #WeNurses tweetchat aims to very simply explore this aspect of the NMC Code.

Some of the questions we intend to ask include:

  • What does "prioritising people" mean to you?
  • What does treating people as individuals and upholding people's dignity look like in practice?
  • How can we ensure that as nurses we listen to people and respond to their preferences and concerns?
  • How do we make sure that people’s physical, social and psychological needs are assessed and responded to? What actions should we take to ensure this happens?
  • What does respecting people’s right to privacy and confidentiality mean and how do we ensure this happens?
  • How do we ensure that we act in the best interests of people at all times?

Question 2 focussed on treating people as individuals

The discussion then turned to listening and responding

Question 4 was all about assessing and responding to needs

Privacy and confidentiality were then discussed
