#WeFinance: Power in Numbers

Tuesday 15th December 2015 by @WeFinance_

On a grey day in November a group of not so grey accountants drank a lot of coffee and determined to encourage their colleagues to collaborate, add value and to share best practice by joining the multitude of different nursing and clinical WeCommunities and so @WeFinance_ was born.

Have you ever wished there was somewhere to share your views, chew the fat, explore possibilities and not be constrained by what is common practice.

#WeFinance is that place.

Have you ever wished you had someone who, no matter what you need to know, will always know the answer, or will know someone who does?  Someone who will share opinions, provide support and encouragement and generally act as a sounding board for all health & social care finance professionals, and for anyone else who joins in. Someone who is there at all times of the day, for those times when you are burning the midnight oil, and for those Monday mornings when you need a flash of inspiration to get you through the week!

#WeFinance is that someone

Just add #WeFinance to your tweets and see what happens, see who joins in, see what ideas you generate.

Each month @WeFinance_ will host a tweetchat on a hot topic. Some subjects will be technical, some less so.  Sometimes the
chats will be in conjunction with the other WeCommunities, and sometimes we will invite a guest host to take control.  We invite participation from all colleagues, and anyone else with an interest; This is definitely not just for finance professionals.

The small group of dedicated individuals behind WeFinance are a number of your colleagues who have volunteered, over and above their day jobs, to run the twitter account for you so please support them by sharing your thoughts and ideas and you can help to shape the debate.

Tweetchats will be held on the third Tuesday of each month at 8pm, and lasts an hour. These have been deliberately scheduled to try not to hit anyone's month end so there's no excuse not to come and join us.  All you'll need is access to a smart phone and a cup of coffee, you dont need to stay for the whole hour, just dip in and out, but be warned, once the tweets start rolling in its hard to drag yourselves away.

The first tweetchat will take place on Tuesday 19th January 2016 and will be on the subject of "Stepping away from the details" - looking at how we take a strategic view of financial reporting and how we avoid having to dig out more and more detail each month.

We'll always publish the pre tweetchat information beforehand so you can see what it's all about and so that you have time to
consider your views, formulate questions, and to alert your colleagues.

Our first discussion is on the 19th of January and will focus month end and the level of detail that adds value, you can find the prechat here.

We'll then remind you regularly in the days before the webchat, and if you still forget to join us, there will be a summary and a transcript available as soon as it hits 9pm and the tweetchat ends.

If you haven't participated in a tweetchat before here is a really simple guide to help you there are some top tweetchatting tips here too.

To see what's happening, all you need to do is to follow @WeFinance_

To suggest a topic for a future tweetchat just send @WeFinance_ a tweet

If you've any other questions,

Between now and our first chat in January...

I couldn't share a selfie with my calculator - it lives in the same device as my camera....
