#PatientStories - Thursday 17th March 2022 8:30pm (GMT Standard Time) Patient Stories - the when, where, what and how?

If you haven't joined in a tweet chat before it's very simple.    Here's a guide

 Chat Details

f

Hosted by WeNurses using #PatientStories

This is the first of two tweetchats with @HOPEnetworkNHS on Patient Stories as part of the "Storytelling Festival" with opportunities to learn more about why and how to create real value from patient stories, see and register for an amazing lineup of online events here.

.........................................................

Last week we looked at the impact of your patients' stories and their value, the tweetchat and summary can be found here.

This week we explore how we can expand that value specifically looking at creating ways to make our patients' stories sharable.

We know that we work for organisations that fiercely guard both the organisation's reputation and, by default, those that work within them who strive to deliver excellent care. Yet there can be a paradox in that in some patients' stories not everything went perfectly but there are still lessons that were learned that improved care.

So if you have a patient story that you know will support an improvement in care delivery how would you work with the patient and your organisation to expand its value and work with the patient to make some changes?

How do we become good at telling stories in a way that respects the patient, and the organisation and improves care, and is accessible?

On this chat, we'll be chatting with expert storytellers from within healthcare that can guide us through not only the art of storytelling but also how to approach the unique challenges faced by presenting #patientstories.

We'll be led through the chat with the following questions:

  • When in a patient's journey do you feel their #patientstories could add value?
  • Where do you think #patientstories should be placed to add the best value?
  • What do we need to be aware of when creating #patientstories?
  • Who would you turn to to help your #patientstories be told?

@WeNurses Consent is the key issue. I tend to record verbal consent as part of the digital recording and then written consent (detailing clearly when the story can and can’t be shared) once the storyteller is happy with the final version #patientstories

17 March 2022 20:44
